The Opéra Royal de Wallonie stages Madama Butterfly with Svetlana Aksenova in the role of Cio-Cio-San


From September 13th to 28th the soprano Svetlana Aksenova will take to the stage of the Opéra Royal de Wallonie to perform the lead role of Puccini's famed opera Madama Butterfly. The stage direction of this coproduction with the Fundazione Festival Pucciniano Torre del Lago will be in the hands of Stefano Mazzonis di Palafera. Musical direction is in the hands of Speranza Scappucci, who will be leading the orchestra and chorus of the Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liège. Performing alongside Aksenova will be, among others, Alexey Dolgov as Pinkerton, Mario Cassi as Sharpless and Sabina Willeit as Suzuki.

Soon we will have the opportunity to listen to the Russian soprano in Eugene Onegin, at the Den Norske Opera of Oslo and the Palm Beach Opera, and also in Aida, at the Staatsoper Hannover.
