The San Francisco Opera presents Madama Butterfly, with Lianna Haroutounian in the leading role


The singer Lianna Haroutounian will embody Cio-Cio-San, the teenage geisha abandoned by her husband, an American naval officer, in Madama Butterfly. This opera in three acts by Giacomo Puccini will be taken to the stage once again by the San Francisco Opera, from November 6th through December 4th. Yves Abel and Jordi Bernàcer are the musical directors and Leslie Swackhamer is in charge of the stage direction of this co-production with Opera Omaha. The Armenian soprano will be sharing the stage of the San Francisco Opera with Vicenzo Costanzo, as B.F. Pinkerton, Zanda Švēde, as Suzuki, Julius Ahn, as Goro, Anthony Clark Evans, as Sharpless, and Raymond Aceto, as the Bonze.
Lianna Haroutounian can be seen again soon in Madame Butterfly, at the Staatsoper Hamburg and at the Seattle Opera, in Simon Boccanegra, at the Concertgebouw of Amsterdam and in Il Trovatore at the Royal Opera House of London.
