The Teatro de la Zarzuela pays tribute to Carlos and Guillermo Fernández Shaw in its Christmas Concert, with soprano María Rodríguez

This year, for its Christmas Concert, the Teatro de la Zarzuela has programmed Los Flamencos, a two-act “sainete” by Federico Romero and Guillermo Fernández-Shaw and La Buena Ventura, a zarzuela in one act and five scenes by Luis López Ballesteros and Carlos Fernández Shaw, the father of Guillermo Fernández-Shaw. The Theatre’s tribute to these two librettists will take place on December 23rd. The music of both pieces is by Amadeo Vives. The musical direction will be by Cristóbal Soler while Javier de Dios will be in charge of the stage direction. Singing in La Buena Ventura will be the Valladolid-born soprano María Rodríguez, who recently sang the role of Aurora in La del soto del Parral, also at the Teatro de la Zarzuela.
