The Theater Kiel stages Il viaggio a Reims with the soprano Mercedes Arcuri in the role of Contessa di Folleville


Il viaggio a Reims, an opera buffa in one act with music by Gioacchino Rossini and Italian libretto by Luigi Balocchi, will be on the stage of the Theater Kiel, in Kiel, Germany, from February 17th to June 24th. Maestro Daniel Carlberg will conduct this co-production by the Theater Kiel, the Theater Lübeck and the Fundacione Arena di Verona. He will be leading an outstanding cast of singers, including the soprano Mercedes Arcuri, who gives life to the aristocratic widow, Contessa di Folleville. The production features an animated film perfectly suited to Rossini's humour and pace, by Joshua Held. Stage direction will be by Pier Francesco Maestrini.
Mercedes Arcuri's recent performances and upcoming engagements include Rigoletto at the Teatro Real of Madrid, Farinelli at Los Teatros del Canal, La guerra de los gigantes by S. Durón at the Teatro de la Zarzuela, Rigoletto at the Theater Kiel, concerts in France, Germany, Finland, and participation in the concert performance of Thaïs at the Gran Teatre del Liceu, among others.
